HOS is committed to building the best possible team, so we can deliver the best products and services to our clients.
Thomas Lamson, President and CEO
Tom, a serial entrepreneur, is a skilled manager, and former Leading Petty Officer and Special Programs Team Lead. Tom has over 24 years of service in the military with four mobilizations including Iraq, Germany, and the UK. As a member of a multinational, multi-disciplinary Task Force, Tom worked with Army, Navy and Air Force EOD personnel to exploit and reverse engineer initiation systems for IEDs enabling soldiers to have current and effective electronic countermeasures. Tom has extensive private sector management experience with multinational enterprises as a Program Manager for military and civilian avionics development and production and as the Director of a PMO for a cyber-security company. He has successfully owned and operated a training and consulting firm and a custom technology solutions company as well as provided cross-disciplinary training and instruction to colleges and universities as a subject matter expert.
In addition to his other duties, Tom is an Atlassian Authorized Instructor who conducts official Atlassian courses at the HOS Training Center.
HOS has been adding new associates as our business grows. Meet our team members, and see how we’ve expanded since 2015.
Laurie Phillips, Head of Training
With an extensive background in training, courseware development, sales and marketing, and entrepreneurship, Laurie is well suited to develop and expand HOS’s training offerings. In addition to owning her own software consulting and training company, Laurie has worked for both large and small firms and has managed the corporate training center for a college. She also has experience developing courseware and sales and marketing materials.
Laurie’s training specialties include Microsoft Office products, Google apps, and legal software. She also has “train the trainer” experience, teaching instructors how to improve their presentation style and communicate with students.
Trish Hanly, Social Media Specialist
Trish brings a remarkable mix of social media, project management, and high-tech skills to the HOS team. She does social media marketing, promotion, and fundraising for a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Hydrocephalus Association, the March of Dimes, and the Animal Rescue Foundation of Texas. Her social media background, along with her experience writing content for Google ads, makes her a natural fit for HOS’s social media outreach efforts.
In addition, Trish has worked as a project manager for Denton County Friends of the Family, and as a project coordinator for multiple construction projects. On the high-tech side, she has extensive experience with Atlassian Confluence and JIRA Service Desk. As a Certified Scrum Master, she is well qualified to support Agile software development projects.
Ethan Vaughan, Technical Support Specialist
As an expert in IT hardware, telecommunications equipment, and physical security, Ethan is responsible for the computer, telephone, and security systems at HOS headquarters. He is also the primary consultant for VoIP phone system setup for HOS clients.
Ethan is an Army veteran with more than nine years of service, including deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan where he served as an EOD Team Leader. After his discharge from the Army in fall of 2015, he worked as a mail carrier for the US Post Office before joining HOS.
While in Afghanistan, Ethan completed a 5K run in a full bomb suit – an event that he and some of the other HOS folks are hoping to duplicate in the future! He also keeps his skills sharp with video gaming and Airsoft.
Michael Callies, Security Operations and Transportation
Michael is a results-driven, energetic professional with over 25 years of experience as a long-haul truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He has a Class A CDL and substantial knowledge of traffic laws and truck driving rules and regulations applicable all across the United States. Michael’s excellent record of long-haul driving has resulted in numerous Safety Awards, Years of Service Awards, and Accident-Free Awards. Always working hard to obtain the next level, Michael is currently pursuing his HazMat truck driver’s certificate.
As HOS’s new Physical Security Manager, Michael will use his decades of experience in logs and records keeping, courteous and professional customer service, and high attention to detail in keeping our facilities, staff, and customers safe. Last but not least, Michael will also be in charge of the coordination and delivery of HOS’s up-coming security services and security products division.
Ann Caddell, Marketing Consultant
Ann is a technical writer, team lead, and project manager with over 20 years experience in the telecom, financial, and defense industries. She sees her function not just as a writer but as a translator, learning complex technical concepts and turning them into usable, plain English explanations and instructions for non-technical users. In this way, she helps to “bridge the gap” between the high-tech software developers and IT experts and the customers and end users who rely on their products and services.
Ann is excited to be working on HOS’s marketing communications, including website development, social media, direct marketing, and community outreach.

Bryan Aho, Head of DevOps
Bryan is passionate about technology and brings his 25 years of experience in Software Development, Release Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Systems Administration to the table to help clients find innovative and cost-effective solutions based on industry best practices. As the global lead of Release Engineering for a multinational enterprise search software company, Bryan and his team planned and implemented the assimilation and consolidation of several release engineering teams related to new company acquisitions.
Bryan has also worked with a large charter school management company as a full-stack developer, Software Development Manager, and SQL DBA. In this role, he managed a successful outsourced project that enabled teachers to take online attendance within their Student Information System, replacing a weekly manual, faxed-paper-forms process.
Renee Crowley, Atlassian Admin Consultant
In addition to being the unofficial team cheerleader, Renee is a trainer, technical writer, and Atlassian subject-matter expert and admin. Training and writing come naturally to her, as she spent several years teaching college English, tutoring in English and French, working as a technical writer, and managing an online business selling textbooks (yes, all at the same time!).
As a college English instructor, Renee gained extensive experience writing instructions, solving problems, and teaching abstract skills. As a business manager, she handled all aspects of the business, from accounting to marketing to customer service. In the IT realm, Renee routinely trains users in new programs, and especially loves helping users find solutions to their problems using the tools available.
