These courses teach the basics of using JIRA Software to facilitate and manage agile software development projects. They cover the main tasks performed by the project manager, the product owner, the scrum master, and the development team.

Getting Started with JIRA Software - for Dev Teams (3.5 hours)

This course teaches the basics of using JIRA Software to facilitate and manage agile software development projects. It covers the main tasks performed by the product owner, the scrum master, and the development team. Topics include:

  • Scrum in JIRA Software
  • Creating an Agile Board
  • Managing the Backlog
  • Active Sprints
  • Reports

Suggested prerequisites

  • JIRA Essentials or equivalent experience using JIRA
  • Basic understanding of JIRA Software, including creating and transitioning issues, creating and editing basic JQL queries
  • Practical knowledge of the Agile process and Scrum
Getting More from JIRA Software - for Dev Teams (7 hours )

This course focuses on the Agile project team – project managers, product owners, scrum masters, board admins, and developers. The entire team experiences the benefits of JIRA Software’s integration with development and collaboration tools. Topics include:

  • Projects and project teams
  • Backlog management
  • Sprint planning
  • Estimation
  • Running the sprint
  • Release management
  • Reporting

Suggested prerequisites:

  • Getting Started with JIRA Agile/Software (or equivalent experience)
  • Basic working knowledge of JIRA Software

Note: This course may be taught on a Saturday.

JIRA Reporting and Dashboards - Applicable to JIRA Software (3.5 hours) 

This course is for those who are new to JIRA dashboards and reports. Students learn how to use JIRA’s out-of-the box reporting and dashboard capabilities to view and assess progress and bottlenecks within projects. Topics include:

  • Overview of each of the major JIRA and JIRA agile reports – the purpose of each, how to use, how to read and interpret the data
  • How to create a dashboard and populate it with gadgets
  • How to create a dashboard that tracks multiple projects
  • How to configure gadgets so they display data as you need
  • How to create and use a wallboard

Suggested prerequisite:
Familiarity with JIRA Agile, JIRA Query Language (JQL), and basic JIRA functionality
